    I was fascinated by this legend connected to the
    Virgin de la O. After looking into the history
    books and records available from the libraries.
    King Charles did not venture outside Europe.
    He went to Italy to claim the crowns of Parma
    and later returned to Spain to become a King.
    The European turmoils and his duties prevented
    him from making a long voyage to a distant
    colony like the Philippines.

    I first started with the authoritative Blair and Robertson (55 volumes) then looked into Religious records (Franciscan, Dominican and Augustinan)and
    lastly copies of Court records.

    Hope this would enligthen your readers and would
    not hostility on the part of the natives of Pangil.
